Cosmetic Dentistry
In addition to preventive and restorative dentistry, Dr. Naffas & Dr. Partovi pursue additional training in order to provide cosmetic dentistry services such as teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and “Invisalign” (invisible orthodontics).
Invisalign (Orthodontics)
To ensure our patients the perfect smile, Dr. Naffas & Dr. Partovi have been trained in Invisalign Orthodontics, better known as clear braces. Your Invisalign treatment will consist of a series of aligners that you switch out about every two weeks. Each aligner is individually manufactured with exact calculations to gradually shift your teeth into place. And since your Invisalign system is custom-made for your teeth and your teeth only, with a plan devised by you and Dr. Naffas & Dr. Partovi, you know you’ll end up with a smile that truly fits.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers are thin wafers of porcelain, about half a millimeter thick (the thickness of a fingernail) that are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a smile makeover. They create a beautiful result. Porcelain mimics tooth structure better than any other restorative material. It is harder than enamel, so it resists wear and can last for many years. Dental artists can manipulate the color and translucency to re-create the look of any tooth. A porcelain veneer resists stain better than tooth enamel.
Composite Resin (White Filling)
A composite filling is a tooth-colored Resin used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
Teeth Whitening
You never get a second chance to make a first impression; this makes your smile important. Your smile is one of the first things that people noticed when you meet them. A bright smile can help you feel better about yourself and make a memorable impression.
Other than aging process, our lifestyle can stain and darken our teeth. Things that we do on a regular basis, such as drinking coffee, tea, cola and red wine, pasta sauce or smoking can contribute to stained teeth.
Whitening can get your smile looking its best. Non-professional procedures and clinically unproven teeth whitening tips can often lead to unsatisfactory results, you should look for a whitening procedure that is safe and effective.
We provide take home whitening kits as well as in office whitening called Zoom! In-office teeth Whitening treatment, can get your teeth whiter in less than an hour, it removes stain from the tooth enamel. Zoom! is safe, effective and very fast, and can be performed only by a dental professional. The take home whitening kit works in the same way except it takes about 2 weeks of applying the whitening gel to get the desired tooth shade. Take home kits are also very safe and effective and since they are priscribed by a dentist they are stronger and more effective than over the counter products.

Preventive & Restorative Dentistry
Porcelain Restorations
Porcelain Restorations generally require two or more visits. They include inlays, onlays, veneers, and crowns. During the first visit, Dr. Naffas & Dr. Partovi prepares the tooth and makes an impression of the area to be restored. The impression is sent to a dental laboratory, which creates the dental restoration. At the next appointment, we will cement the restoration onto the prepared tooth and adjusts it as needed.
Dental crowns
Crowns are a type of dental restoration which, when cemented into place, fully cup over the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. In comparison, fillings are dental restorations that fill in or cover over just a portion of a tooth. Since dental crowns encase the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth’s new outer surface.
Crowns can be made out of porcelain, gold, or a combination of both. Other terms that are used to refer to dental crowns are “dental caps” and “tooth caps.”
Dr. Naffas & Dr. Partovi might recommend placing a dental crown for a variety of reasons but, in general, most of these reasons will usually fall within one of the following basic categories:
- To restore a tooth to its original shape.
- To strengthen a tooth.
- To improve the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.
Root Canal Therapy
Root canal treatment (also called a root canal) is usually done when decay will likely damage or has already killed a tooth. During a root canal, Dr. Naffas or Dr. Partovi will removes the pulp from the center of a tooth and fills the pulp cavity. This can prevent the development of a painful infection in the pulp that may spread to other teeth. A root canal can also treat an infection that has developed into an abscessed tooth. This procedure can relieve toothache, stop infection, and promote healing.
Dental Bridge
Bridges, also referred to as fixed partial denture, a bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth, looks great, and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth may have been. The restoration can be made from gold, porcelain or a combination of these materials and is bonded onto surrounding teeth permanently for support.
Unlike a removable bridge, which you can take out and clean, a fixed bridge can only be removed by a dentist.
TMJ Disorders
Stress and other life factors including sleep disorder and an abnormal bite can be leading you to grind your teeth or clench your jaws. This is called bruxism, and often happens as we sleep. Symptoms include a dull headache or a sore jaw. You could have teeth that are painful or loose from severe grinding. This can lead to fractures in your teeth. Dr. Naffas & Dr. Partovi can fit you with a night guard to protect your teeth during sleep.
Dentures
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Our office can help fit you with the right type of denture for you. Generally, two types of dentures are available – complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
Wisdom tooth Extractions
Wisdom teeth are prone to problems during their eruption (breaking through the gum tissue). Since wisdom teeth are the last to erupt and there is often little room left in the mouth. As a result, wisdom teeth may erupt sideways, only partially, or become trapped (impacted), leading to pain, infection, and gum line and facial swelling. If any of these conditions arise, we can determine that wisdom tooth extraction is necessary.
Fully grown wisdom teeth often need extractions too. Because they are far too reach, they are often not cleaned well causing tooth decay. If you have any infections, the Doctor may delay the extraction until the infection has cleared up.
Sleep Apnea
An estimated 18 million Americans have obstructive sleep apnea(OSA), a sleep disorder caused by an obstructed airway due to the tongue and soft tissues falling into the back of the throat during sleep. This results in short episodes when breathing is stopped.
“OSA” may be a serious, life-threatening condition — but for many patients, alleviating its effects can be as easy as utilizing an oral appliance at night. Oral appliances, which resemble sports mouth guards, may control mild to moderate OSA with minimal discomfort or disruption.
Our office can fit you with a customized mouth guard to help treat your sleep apnea, snoring, or both. When worn during sleep, they help to maintain an open airway by repositioning or stabilizing the lower jaw, tongue, soft palate, or uvula (the fingerlike piece of tissue that hangs down from the soft palate at the back of the mouth.
